Kristen Wiig is returning to “Saturday Night Live” to make her hosting debut on the NBC sketch comedy series, which she left a year ago after serving as a cast member for seven seasons.

She will host the show’s May 11 episode, which will feature a performance by Vampire Weekend, NBC said in a statement obtained by OTRC.com on Friday, April 26.

A week earlier, “Hangover” star Zach Galifianakis will take over the job, which will mark his third time hosting, and Of Monsters and Men will perform. Oscar-winning “Argo” star and director Ben Affleck will host the current 38th season’s finale, which airs on May 18 and will feature a performance by Kanye West. Affleck has hosted “SNL” four times before.

Wiig, a 40-year-old upstate New York native, rose to fame on the show and was nominated for four Emmys for her work, which included impressions of Taylor Swift and Kathie Lee Gifford as well as skits in which she played original characters Gilly and Penelope.

Wiig is now one of the most popular comedy film actresses, having starred in movies such as “Bridesmaids,” for which she was nominated for an Oscar for her original screenplay. She is set to appear in the new films “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” with fellow “SNL” alum Will Ferrell and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” which stars Ben Stiller, who also directed the movie.

Wiig left “SNL” in May 2012 (check out her “graduation” photo with Mick Jagger) and returned once since then — she made a cameo on an episode that December. She told Access Hollywood on April 18 that she felt “a little lost” after she exited the series.
